PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an imaged image of an appropriate face without employing a special illuminator. SOLUTION: A face image imaging device is provided with an imaging means which images the still image of a face of a person to be imaged, a liquid crystal monitor which displays a still image imaged by the imaging means arranged in front of the face of the person and a control means by which the screen of the monitor is made brighter at the instant of imaging of the still image being imaged by the imaging means. Note that the monitor is used as an illuminator during the imaging. Moreover, a polarizing filter is provided on the imaging light path of the imaging means. The filter has a polarization direction which is orthogonal with respect to the linear polarization being generated from the screen of the monitor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
