PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable and stable toner which neither increases texture dirt (fog) of a white part nor reduces the image density when being repeatedly used in a copying machine, a printer, or the like and increases neither fog nor scatter in a machine even when being changed with time due to exposure to heat in a high-temperature environment. SOLUTION: A toner for developing an electrostatic charge image contains at least a binder resin, a colorant, and a charge controlling agent, and further contains a salt generating compound expressed by general formula (1) as the charge controlling agent.
