INORGANIC OXIDE HOLLOW PARTICLE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to easily manufacture inorganic hollow particles from various kinds of inorganic raw materials containing a metal alkoxide.

SOLUTION: An ionic liquid containing a minute amount of water is provided. A solution is prepared by dissolving an inorganic oxide precursor into an organic solvent incompatible with the ionic liquid, is added to the ionic liquid and stirred to induce hydrolysis and polycondensation reaction of the inorganic oxide precursor to produce hollow particles of the inorganic oxide. The produced hollow particles of the inorganic oxide are separated from the ionic liquid and then fired. Two or more kinds of inorganic oxide precursors or functional components excluding the inorganic oxide precursors can also be used. The obtained hollow particles of the inorganic oxide (e.g. titanium oxide) have about 1μm to 100μm particle size.
