<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission apparatus for normally transmitting a received audio signal even in the absence of an input video signal. <P>SOLUTION: The image transmission apparatus for converting a video signal and an audio signal into compressed digital signals and transmitting them, includes: a video signal compression means; an audio signal compression means; a video signal detection section for detecting the presence / absence of the input video signal; a video signal generating section for generating other video signal than the input video signal; and a means for selecting a signal from the video signal generating section or the input video signal for the video signal received by the video signal compression means on the basis of a signal denoting the presence / absence of the input video signal outputted from the video signal detection section. When no video signal exists, the image transmission apparatus outputs a pseudo video signal prepared in a transmission apparatus, multiplexes the audio signal with the pseudo video signal without revising the PTS control system and the TS format in compliance with the MPEG standard and transmits the result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
