A bag-in-box carton comprises a pair of shorter-side planar portions, a pair of longer-side planar portions and rib portions formed at intersections between and at angles to these shorter- and longer-side planar portions. The carton is formed in a scalene octagon when viewed from above. The carton is made by laminating and bonding a plurality of cardboard liners together. This construction can prevent a swelling of carton body, improve a stacking pressure resistance significantly, reduce a possibility of insects entering between cardboards, and produce a better water-repelling performance than conventional cardboards. Further, when the carton is placed on its side for use in a kitchen, this construction allows a content of the carton to be fully extracted easily. Moreover, this construction provides an inexpensive carton and substantially increases the number of cartons that can be loaded on a pallet when compared with the conventional square cartons. |
