<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solar cell having a higher stability and a longer lifetime than a color detection photovoltaic solar cell and more inexpensive than a silicon based semiconductor solar cell. <P>SOLUTION: The solar cell has a multilayer solid-state structure including a photodetective layer, a thin conductor, a charge separation layer, and a rear ohmic conductor layer. Since light absorption takes place in the photodetective layer, generated charge carriers are transported through the thin conductor and an adjacent potential energy barrier. The open circuit voltage of the solar cell can be controlled by selecting the material composing the thin conductor, the charge separation layer, and the rear ohmic layer from a wide range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
