PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a connector to be easily released from an insertion coupling, to prevent a latch from being damaged by being excessively bent in the release of the insertion coupling and to protect the latch from a careless displacement during the insertion coupling, in an electric connector assembly, an electric connector and a connector position assurance device. SOLUTION: The connector position assurance device 36 is mounted freely slidably on a mounting assembly of the connector position assurance device, and can be moved to a first, second and third positions. At the first position, a first and a second connector housings 34, 32 are enabled to insertion-couple with each other by the connector position assurance device 36. At the second position, the first and the second connector housings are prevented from insertion-coupling with each other and releasing from the insertion coupling. At the third position, the connector position assurance device 36 displaces at least a part of a retention assembly to enable the first and the second connector housings 34, 32 to be released from the insertion coupling.
