PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and an information processing apparatus in which deterioration of a picture quality caused by flare light is reduced. SOLUTION: In the image reader in which an original A is irradiated with a light source B and an image of reflected light from the original A is formed on a sensor D by a rod lens array C, a light shielding member E-1 is located between an emission plane of light flux of the light source B and an incidental plane C-1 of the rod lens array C to prevent the flare caused by incident light emitted from the light source directly to the rod lens array C.
