PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TV/FM multiplex broadcast receiver that suppresses deterioration in the S/N of an audio signal at reception of an FM multiplex broadcast program and an error rate at demodulation of the FM multiplex broadcast program. SOLUTION: The television receiver compatible with FM multiplex broadcast reception includes: intermediate frequency conversion sections 13, 14, 16, and 17 for receiving signals with a frequency band covering those of TV and FM multiplex broadcast programs and converting the signals into intermediate frequency signals; a first filter 19 applying band limit to an input signal; a second filter 20 applying band limit to the input signal under a broader band than that of the first filter; a filter selection section 22 for inputting outputs of the intermediate frequency conversion sections to either of the filters 19, 20; and a demodulation section 21 for demodulating the output subjected to band limit. The section 22 selects the filter 19 when the TV receiver receives the TV broadcast program and outputs a sound signal from the demodulation section, and the section 22 selects the filter 20 when the TV receiver receives the FM multiplex broadcast program and outputs an FM multiplex signal from the section 21. Thus, the TV receiver can suppress deterioration in the S/N of the sound signal in the TV broadcast program at the reception of the FM multiplex broadcast. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
