PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating mold release agent which has a low-viscosity, good dispersibility and storage stability, and excellent mold release characteristics without using an environmental pollutant; and its production method. SOLUTION: The mold release agent comprises a slurry containing a powder mixture of a boron nitride powder and an ultrafine silica powder in a mass ratio of 1/(0.1-5), and is characterized in that the ultrafine silica powder has a specific surface area of 35 m<SP>2</SP>/g or higher and does not substantially form a structure, and also, the mold release agent is produced by dispersing slurries, each containing the boron nitride powder and/or the ultrafine silica powder, in each other by colliding them with each other under a pressure of 10 MPa or higher.
