PURPOSE: A method for monitoring an Ethernet link of an Internet phone is provided to monitor whether an Ethernet packet is normal by an Internet phone, and to properly control an Ethernet operation according to monitored results, thereby preventing wrong operations of a system. CONSTITUTION: An Internet phone detects a state of a physical layer chip, checks a physical link state, and sets an Ethernet reset flag if a physical link changes. If the physical link does not change, the Internet phone checks integrity of a transmission queue, and sets the Ethernet reset flag if an error is generated. If the Ethernet reset flag is set, the Internet phone re-initializes an Ethernet medium access control function.
