<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic particles which do not contain baser metal particles as impurities, and have little distortion in a B-H curve, to provide a manufacturing method for them, and to provide a magnetic recording medium which contains the magnetic particles in its magnetic layer. <P>SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the magnetic particles comprises steps of: manufacturing alloy particles which can form a hard magnetic rule alloy phase of a CuAu type or Cu<SB>3</SB>Au type; annealing the alloy particles; and treating the particles with an acid which can melt only a baser metal component.
