<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a mud material for filling a blast furnace tap hole by preventing tap hole cracks. <P>SOLUTION: The mud material essentially comprises a refractory material and a thermoplastic carbonaceous binder. The refractory material contains 0.5-10 mass% carbon black and 20-70 mass% pyrophyllite containing 0.5-5 mass% K<SB>2</SB>O. The carbon black has a dibutyl phthalate (DBP) absorption of ≤50 (mL/100g), and the pyrophyllite, containing 0.5-2 mass% K<SB>2</SB>O, contains ≤0.5 mass% Na<SB>2</SB>O. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
