<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology wherein in a semiconductor module provided with a switching semiconductor device, its power loss is detected by an external system. <P>SOLUTION: The switching semiconductor device 11 built in the semiconductor module 10 is provided with a plurality of switching semiconductor elements. A loss computing portion 12 computes power loss which occurs in the switching semiconductor device 11, based on the voltage of each switching semiconductor element measured by a voltage measuring portion 13, and the current of each switching semiconductor element measured by a current measuring portion 14. The loss computing portion 12 outputs loss data indicating the computed power loss as a data signal to a motor control unit 82 outside the semiconductor module 10. Thus, the motor control unit 82 recognizes the power loss that occurs in the switching semiconductor device 11 from the loss data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
