PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple oil separating apparatus which, even when oil flows out through a drainage channel from a facility such as a filling station, recognizes it quickly and can surely prevent the outflow of the oil to the outside. SOLUTION: Separation tanks 1A, 1B, and 1C are arranged in series through partitions 2A and 2B, and waste liquid supply ports a<SB>1</SB>, b<SB>1</SB>, and c<SB>1</SB>having height differences and waste liquid discharge openings a<SB>2</SB>, b<SB>2</SB>, and c<SB>2</SB>are formed in the separation tanks 1A-1C, respectively. Each separation tank 1A-1C is formed from a stainless steel plate, and a corrosion-proof layer 3 of an epoxy resin is formed on its outer surface. An opening/closing lid 11A-11C is set on the upper end opening part of each separation tank 1A-1C, and an inspection hole 13 is formed in the lid 11A of the separation tank located most upstream. A suspended frame 16 for keeping an oil adsorbent 15 in the liquid surface part of in the separation tank 1A is formed on the back of the lid 11A, and the oil adsorbent 15 kept in the liquid surface part by the frame 16 is made visible from the inspection hole 13.
