PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an origination controller in a telephone system which surely reads and automatically dials a telephone number described on a paper, such as calling cards. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 is connected to a display 2, an OCR reader 3, a key input unit 4 and an origination controller unit 5. A telephone directory memory 7 connected to the CPU 1 saves the telephone number data obtained, based on the described contents data read by the reader 3, as they are, or edited, saves the telephone number data newly inputted by the input unit 4, and allows the saved data to be taken out at any time. An identifier/decider 8 connected to the CPU 1 makes the recognition and decision to obtain the telephone number data, based on specified conditions (details later) from the described contents data read by the reader 3.
