PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly bring a plurality of external heat rolls into press contact with the surface of a member to be heated such as a thermal fixing roll etc., to effectively heat the surface of the member to be heated, to drastically improve the productivity of a cardboard, and also, to obtain a color image of high image quality. SOLUTION: The external heating device equipped with a plurality of external heat rolls which is brought in press contact with the surface of the member to be heated so as to heat the surface of the member to be heated from the outside, is provided with an attaching/detaching means for bringing the plurality of external heat rolls into press contact with the surface of the member to be heated, or separating the rolls from the surface of the member to be heated, and an adjusting means for uniformly bringing the plurality of external heat rolls into press contact with the surface of the member to be heated.
