PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for continuous casting which enables the production of a slab provided with satisfactory quality by making the shape of the cooling face in a mold body on a hot time into the prescribed one. SOLUTION: In the mold 10 for continuous casting, molten steel 12 poured into a surrounded mold space 11 is cooled and solidified to produce a slab. The inside part of a mold body 14 lying in a position lower than a meniscus part 13, and brought into contact with the upper part of the molten steel 12 has been provided with an extension part 15 which substantially coincides with the expansion margin of the mold body 14 on production, so that the surface condition of the slab to be produced can be made satisfactory, the product quality can be improved, and further, the possibility of the occurrence of breakout or the like in the slab can be reduced. Thus, the mold 10 for continuous casting which can also deal with high speed casting can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
