PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cooling a tool holder to be fitted to a spindle of a machine tool, by which the tool holder is easily and effectively cooled, and to also provide the tool holder. SOLUTION: A rotary vane member is provided on an outer peripheral part of the tool holder to be mounted on the spindle nose of the machine tool. The rotary vane member generates air flow by the rotation of the spindle. The tool holder is cooled by the air flow passing through the tool holder. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
