PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a joining type metallic structural member in which strength, wear-resistance, etc., in a second composition is drastically improved and also, the joined strength between a first and the second compositions is largely improved. SOLUTION: In the case of producing the joining type metallic structural member, in which the metallic material-made first composition 2 and the metallic composite material-made second composition 3 joined to the first composition 2, are composed and the metallic composite material has a matrix composed of intermetallic compound and dispersant comprising ceramics, on the joining surface 4 of the first composition 2, the formation of molten intermetallic compound composition with the chemical reaction of at least two molten metals and the formation of the ceramics with the chemical reaction of at least two base materials for forming porous forming body 3<SB>0</SB>, are performed to produce the second composition 3 and also, the joining surface 4 of the first composition 2 is melted with the heat of formation of the molten intermetallic compound composition and the heat of formation of the ceramics to join the second composition 3 and the first composition 2.
