PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical signal transmission system or the like in which a corresponding relationship between a transmitting source of a signal and its receiving source is monitored without deteriorating a quality of a main optical signal and photoelectrically transducing the main optical signal in a wavelength multiplexed network capable of multiplexing a transmitting signal without depending on a transmitting signal velocity and a format of the transmitting signal.

SOLUTION: The main optical signal to be transmitted from an optical signal transmitting apparatus 10 through a wavelength multiplexed optical wave network N to an optical signal receiving apparatus 20 is transmitted while multiplexing thereon a wavelength of identification light whose wavelength is different from the wavelength of the main optical signal. A frequency of the identification light is modulated with an intrinsic modulation frequency in accordance with the main optical signal. An identifier transmitter 12 outputs correspondence data of the main optical signal and the modulation frequency to a memory 30, and an identifier receiver 23 compares a relationship between the received main optical signal and the modulated frequency of the identification light with the correspondence data stored in the memory 30 to monitor the corresponding relationship between the transmitting source and the receiving source.
