PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detoxifying polychlorinated biphenyl contained in electric appliances including a capacitor, a stabilizer, and a thermal paper or the like, which is very difficult to toxify with existing methods.
SOLUTION: The polychlorinated biphenyl is efficiently rendered harmless with a high-frequency induction heater. Processes for extraction, comprising a step of disassembling components for extracting the polychlorinated biphenyl from the electric appliances including the capacitor, and the stabilizer or the like; a step of distillation under reduced pressure; and a step of solvent extraction or the like, are eliminated. The electrical machinery is charged in the high-frequency induction heater together with alkali compounds and an exothermic agent and heated in an oxygen-free atmosphere so that the polychlorinated biphenyl is detoxified.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
|
