PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing system which can shorten the silent time in exchanging a recording medium even when a user designates the exchange of the recording medium forcibly. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 11 controls so that information on a top portion of information for reproducing on each recording medium is beforehand stored in a second memory 25, and when a medium exchange is designated, next information on the top portion of the recording medium for reproducing is read and output from the second memory 25. Further, the microcomputer controls to make the exchange of the recording medium complete while the information on the top portion is output, to read information followed by the information on the top portion from a new recording medium for reproducing, and to output it in series with the information on the top portion.
