PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously measure a high-resolution anatomical image and a high-time resolution functional image within a same cross section. SOLUTION: A cross section to be measured is selected and excited by a first high-frequency magnetic field 11, and an encode gradient magnetic field 13 and readout gradient magnetic field 14 are applied to measure a first echo 15. Subsequently, a reduced small cross section of an area within the excited cross section is selected by a second high-frequency magnetic field 17 and a third high-frequency magnetic field 19, and an encode gradient magnetic field 21 and a readout gradient magnetic field signal 22 are impressed to measure a second echo 23. Echoes are measured from a large visual field cross section and a smaller visual field cross section at the same time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
