<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly carry paper and maintain excellent image quality without making a device larger by lengthening a paper transport path even when the paper passes a plurality of kinds of image forming units having different image forming speeds in order. <P>SOLUTION: When an ink image is formed by a second image forming unit 220, paper P fed from a paper supply unit 300 is carried in a second paper transport path 240 in a direction of arrow D via a first paper transport path 230 in a direction of an arrow C. After passing the second image forming unit 220 once, the transportation direction is reversed and during conveyance of the paper P in the second paper transport path 240 in a direction of an arrow E, the ink image is formed on the surface at the second image forming unit 220.
