METHOD FOR CREATING HIGH YIELDING GRAIN CROP BEARING LARGE GRAIN BY GENE MODIFICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a high yielding plant bearing large grains by certainly carrying out a breed improvement by gene modification method.

SOLUTION: It has been known that a seed became a short grainwhen α subunit gene of trimer G plant protein is defective. Therefore, a transformant which gives seeds of large grain size is obtained by bringing the α subunit gene of the trimer G plant protein to be always in an active form. The plant is bred to give the seeds having the large grain size by modifying the gene to always express the active form.
