<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for processing an optical signal suitable for generating SC light and capable of obtaining a high S/N and high spectrum spreading ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The method for processing the optical signal is constituted of the steps of: (a) inputting a signal light beam into a first nonlinear optical medium 4 and expanding the spectrum of the signal light beam by means of self phase modulation generated in the first nonlinear optical medium 4, (b) compensating wavelength dispersion occurring on the signal light beam in the above processing, and (c) inputting the signal light beam which has passed through the steps (a) and (b) into a second nonlinear optical medium 8 and further expanding the spectrum of the signal light beam by means of self phase modulation generated in the second nonlinear optical medium 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
