摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger that is used even in the place where an external power source is unavailable. SOLUTION: The charger is a battery charger 100 and 100' that conducts the remote or untethered charging of a rechargeable battery 102. The battery charger provides the untethered charging during which the battery "is plugged in" a battery driving device 104 or before which it is detached from the device. The battery charger includes an electric power converter 110, and an energy storing device 120 connected with the electric power converter. Battery charging systems 200, 300, 400 and 500 include the battery charger, and separate electricity connecting devices 220, 322, 420 and 522. One pair of electricity connecting devices 220 and 420 obtains energy by connecting the battery charger with the external power source 106, and stores it in the energy storing device. The other pair of electricity connecting devices 322 and 522 connects the battery 102 with the battery charger for charging. These connecting devices are independent and the battery charger need not be connected with the external power source during the charge of the battery, thus ending up in the untethered charging of the battery.
