PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an A/D converter having a simplified test function capable of judging whether an incorporated comparator is defective or not. SOLUTION: The A/D converter is provided with: a switch matrix 211 for successively selecting groups out of comparators divided into a plurality of groups except for a group including a comparator in which the compared result of a comparing potential and an input voltage is inverted; an exclusive OR circuit 212 for detecting that outputs of all comparators in the selected groups are equal; and a logic circuit 213 for judging the comparators in the groups are defective when it is detected that the outputs of all the comparators in the selected groups are not equal.
