PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera that can automatically rewrite the index indication of a recording medium, and to provide a recording medium having index indication. SOLUTION: The digital camera 1 records index information, containing photographing data and thumbnail image data on the attachable/detachable recording medium 15, together with image data obtained by photographing. On the recording medium 15, a non-volatile electronic paper 26, on which the index information is recorded in a rewritable state and which maintains and displays the recorded index information without consuming electric power is formed integrally. In addition, the digital camera 1 is provided with an electronic paper write section 27 which records and erases the index information on and from the electronic paper 26. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
