PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a conventional video signal recording apparatus that the circuit scale is increased to make product downsizing difficult, an exclusive memory is often required to cause a cost increase because the conventional apparatus may adopt a three-dimensional DNR(dynamic noise reduction) for recorded signals in order to reduce quantization noise caused by insufficient reduction of a data quantity at compression in particular at a low rate recording when random noise is produced in a video signal due to insufficient electric field strength or the like in the case of receiving a TV broadcast and recording it digitally. SOLUTION: The video signal recording apparatus includes: a means for detecting the electric field strength (reception state) of a TV broadcast signal to be recorded; a means for generating an RF-AGC voltage in response to the electric field strength; a means for setting at least three kinds of electric field strength bands or more in response to the electric field strength on the basis of a voltage resulting from applying A/D conversion to the RF-AGC voltage; and a means for limiting a high band frequency of the video signal in response to the respective electric field strength bands.
