PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the medium noise in a low-density area of a perpendicular magnetic recording/reproducing medium, to improve the recording resolution, and to achieve much higher surface recording density exceeding the limit of thermal fluctuation of an inner magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: This device uses a perpendicular magnetic recording medium in which first and second magnetic recording layer to be diamagnetically coupled, or an inner magnetic recording medium in which a predetermined intermediate layer 3 is disposed between the first and second magnetic recording layers to connect the layers to be diamagnetically coupled.
