PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To include more documents useful for a user when a user retrieves a plurality of document databases via a network. SOLUTION: A document retrieval agent 200 having a document database 220 is arranged in association with each user. The document retrieval agent holds numerical data representing reliability in each field for a user matching the document database by a multi-dimensional vector as a document database profile 211. On receipt of a retrieval request from a user terminal device 100, the document retrieval agent calculates similarity of the document database profile 211 with the retrieval request, sends the retrieval request to another document retrieval agent matching the document database profile with high similarity, and sends the retrieval result from the document retrieval agent to the user terminal device.
