PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the quantity of ink drops adhering to the nozzle face and remaining thereon or to prevent ink drops from remaining on the nozzle face. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer comprises a recording head provided with the ejection openings of nozzles for ejecting high viscosity ink toward a recording medium, and a cap member being fixed to the recording head to cover the ejection openings during an ink suction work. An ink absorbing member is provided on the inside of the cap member. When the cap member is fixed to the recording head, ink existing on the face of the recording head provided with the ejection openings (hereinafter, referred to "nozzle face") remains heated by a heating means and the ink absorbing member touches the ink existing on the nozzle face.
