PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner for electrostatic charge development which contains uniformly dispersed colorants, is free from fog and ununiform image density with regard to high colorant concentration, is consumed little and excellent in releasability. SOLUTION: The method comprises: steps of separately obtaining a resin solution (A) by dispersing a colorant in a solution of hydrophobic organic solvent which is a self-water-dispersible resin, and a resin solution (B) by dispersing a releasing agent in a solution of hydrophobic organic solvent which is a self-water-dispersible resin; a step of mixing the resin solutions (A) and (B), thereby obtaining a resin solution mixture containing, as essential fundamental components, the self-water-dispersible resin, the colorants, and the releasing agent; a step of inversely emulsifying the resin solution mixture, thereby forming particles in an aqueous medium; and a step of separating the particles from the aqueous medium and drying them.
