PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner for electrostatic charge development, which contains colorant dispersed uniformly, is free of fog and ununiform image density in high colorant concentration, and is low in toner consumption. SOLUTION: The method comprises: a step of melting and kneading a colorant with a self-water-dispersible resin in advance so that the colorant is uniformly and finely dispersed in the resin, thereby obtaining an melt-and-kneaded resin object containing, as essential fundamental components, the self-water-dispersible resin and the colorant; a step of inversely emulsifying the melt-and-kneaded resin object dissolved in a hydrophobic organic solvent, thereby forming colorant-including particles in an aqueous medium; a step of separating the colorant-including particles from the aqueous medium and drying them.
