PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water leak detection device for detecting a water leak in a building, a water pipe or the like, which is inexpensive, operable by anyone, and can prevent misdiagnosis. SOLUTION: This method has a detected signal display step n2 for converting signal data of a sound wave or an oscillatory wave detected by a sensor 2 so as to show its spectrum and displaying the data on a display device 6, a filtering step n4 for filtering the detected signal data after waiting a filtering command by a noise removing filter produced and stored beforehand or a noise removing filter produced based on a noise sample signal stored beforehand, and a reduced signal display step n5 for displaying the spectrum of a reduced signal reduced in the filtering step n4.
