Mono- or di-alkali metal or ammonium salts of compounds of formula <FORM:1087805/C2/1> wherein R is phenyl or C1 to C3 alkyl and X is F, are used as pesticides or herbicides. The examples describe the preparation of the sodium salts of 1,3 - bis (hexafluoro - 2 - hydroxy - 2 - propyl) - 2 - (methyl or phenyl) - 1 - propenes. Specification 964,755 describes the compounds of the above formula per se.ALSO:A pesticidal or herbicidal composition comprises an unsaturated compound of formula <FORM:1087805/A5-A6/1> wherein R is phenyl or alkyl, and X is F or Cl, or an alkali metal or ammonium salt of such a compound wherein X is F, together with a carrier. Isomers of said compound also may be present. Preferred compounds are the 1,3-bis(1,3-[Cl2F4 or F6]-2-hydroxy-2-propyl)-2-(phenyl or methyl)-1-propenes. |
