PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a filter capable of removing foreign matters such as slag from molten metal to a mold. SOLUTION: In the filter set apparatus for casting, a filter for filtering molten metal fed to the cavity of a mold is set to the prescribed position of the mold. The apparatus comprises a retaining mechanism of sucking the filter face of the filter previously prepared at a prescribed place and retaining the filter; a conveyance mechanism of conveying the filter retained by the retaining mechanism to the prescribed position of the mold; and a suction stop control means of stopping the suction of the retaining mechanism when the filter retained by the retaining mechanism is conveyed to the prescribed position of the mold by the conveyance mechanism.
