A method of pressurizing a pressurized dispensing container 1 having a piston 4 separating the substance to be dispensed, e.g. toothpaste, from the propellant gas, comprises forming a hole 6 in the concave base of the container, placing a piece of fusible material 7, e.g. solder or plastics, over or adjacent the hole, locating a pressurizing chamber 8 on the container base, supplying propellant gas under pressure to chamber 8 and via hole 6 to container 1, melting material 7 to seal hole 6, e.g. by eddy currents in coil 9 or by soldering iron, allowing material 7 to solidify while maintaining pressure in chamber 8, and then removing chamber 8.
