<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve uniformity of luminance in a plane by enhancing light use efficiency in a distant part of a point light source apt to short in luminance in a structure for extracting illumination light by using the point light source, in relation to a front light suitably used for a reflection type display device. <P>SOLUTION: This front light has a structure wherein: a thin ray of light incident on the longitudinal end face of a second light guide body 2 from the point light source 3 is propagated into the inside of the guide body 2 to form it into a wide ray of light; the wide ray of light is incident on a light receiving surface 1a of a first light guide body 1 to be propagated in the guide body 1, and emitted toward a display surface disposed in parallel with the undersurface of the first light guide body. In a side part 1c of the guide body 1 positioned in the distant part of the point light source 3, a light reflecting means for reflecting light leaked to the outside of the guide body 1 from the side part 1c to the inside of the first light guide body is installed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
