SUBSTRATE, MANUFACTURING METHOD OF SHEET-LIKE BODY USING THE SUBSTRATE, SHEET-LIKE BODY, AND SOLAR BATTERY MANUFACTURED FROM THE SHEET-LIKE BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate wherein formation of burrs is prevented in the manufacture of a sheet-like body of a semiconductor material and the sheet-like body can be passed through a process for manufacturing a product in just the state it is.

SOLUTION: The substrate is to be brought into contact with melted liquid containing the semiconductor material to grow the sheet-like body of the semiconductor material on the surface of the substrate. The surface of the substrate is divided into a peripheral part formed along the edge part thereof and a principal surface part inside the peripheral part and the principal surface part and the peripheral part have at least one of shapes and materials different from each other. For example, the peripheral part of the substrate has projecting and recessing shapes or the peripheral part and the principal part have constituent members different from each other.
