PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal and a positioning method switching stystem for positioning a present location with a positioning method exhibiting necessary positioning accuracy by selecting any of a plurality of the positioning methods in accordance with a strength of a received radio wave in radio communication to specify the position. SOLUTION: The mobile terminal 1 for displaying a present location on the basis of received navigation information is provided with: a signal strength acquisition means 33 for acquiring the received signal strength of the navigation information; and a comparison means 39 for comparing the received radio wave strength with a threshold radio wave strength 37 preset as a threshold value. The mobile terminal 1 is configured such that the mobile terminal selects one positioning method by switching a plurality of the positioning methods according to the comparison result by the comparison means 39 to position the current place and specify the position by means of the selected one positioning method.
