PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably and economically producing xylylenediamine with a long catalyst life in high yield when the xylylenediamine and/or cyanobenzylamine are produced by hydrogenating phthalonitrile. SOLUTION: The method for producing the xylylenediamine and/or cyanobenzylamine comprises hydrogenating the phthalonitrile in the presence of a catalyst in the liquid phase.
