PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder which can prevent a recording paper sheet from being erroneously laid on a paper feeding tray. SOLUTION: In order to replenish recording sheets, when the paper feeding tray 2 is drawn out, an image including the information of the material, size, a(longitudinal or lateral) direction and (front or back) side of the material of recording sheet to be set to the paper feeding tray 2 is projected to be displayed in the laying section 3 of the paper feeding tray 2 by a projector 4 as a display means. Since the information related to replenishment recording sheets is projected to be displayed at a place within reach, where the user notices the display naturally and most, the user is prevented from setting wrong recording sheets in size, a(longitudinal or lateral) direction and (front or back) side of the material erroneously and from consuming the recording sheets set erroneously wastefully.
