PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve appearance of a smoke screening sliding door device installed in front of an elevator. SOLUTION: A smoke screening sliding door 11 projecting in front of a getting on / off door 5 of the elevator is stored in door cases 4 right and left of a getting on / off passage R, and a sliding door passage opening 35 of the door cases 4 is blocked by a swing door 50, capable of being opened / closed. A vertical passage frame 7 constituting right and left wall surfaces of the getting on / off passage R leading to the doors 5 and 5 from a getting on / off floor 2, the blocked swing door 50 and each of inner faces 7a, 50a and 41a of a door case vertical frame 41 are almost flush and inclined faces gradually extending to the sides, and the tip end of the sliding doors are not seen as before at right and left of the getting on / off passage R, irregular feeling is eliminated, and premium feeling is improved, and feeling of narrowness is alleviated compared with the case where the right and left wall faces are parallel.
