PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming NC data to automatically and correctly conduct tool replacement under consideration of residual life of a tool instead of depending on judgement by a skilled worker for efficiently and precisely conducting NC machining. SOLUTION: Based on standard machining length of a tool and moving distance of the tool searched from a series of basic NC data recorded in a basic NC data recording device, a replacement number of times n of the tool and actual machining length of the tool are determined. When the moving distance of the tool exceeds the actual machining length, it is determined that replacement of the tool is necessary, and tool replacement NC data including data to select a replacement tool having similar characteristics to above tool, and having residual machining length exceeding the actual machining length are formed to be added to the basic NC data.
