<p>The present invention is directed to an exercise apparatus (10) that includes a frame (12) housing a weight stack (14). A sliding assembly (16) is coupled to the frame (12) and weight stack (14). The sliding assembly (16) includes, but is not limited to, a guide column (18), a sliding element (28) disposed on the guide column (18), a pulley (30) attached to the sliding element (28), a first mount (34) disposed at one end (22) of the guide column (18), a second mount (36) coupled to the sliding element (28), and a first cable (54) disposed in the pulley (30). The first cable (54) has a first end (56) attached to one end (22) of the guide column (18), an intermediate portion (58) disposed in the pulley (30), and a second end (60) terminating in a handle (62). A second cable (46) may have a first end (52) attached to the sliding element (28) or the first mount (36) and a second end (48) attached to the weight stack (14). In one embodiment, the guide column (18), first mount, (34) and a second mount (36) are rotatable independently of each other.</p> |
