ELECTRODE DESIGN METHOD FOR APPLICATION OF IMPLANTABLE DEVICE REQUIRING SELECTIVE REPLACEMENT INDICATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elective replacement indicator (ERI) of an implantable medical device.

SOLUTION: The medical device has a control circuit stored in a housing and a battery cell, and the device is powered by the battery cell having a lithium anode coupled to a sandwich cathode having a structure of SVO/collector/CFx, with the SVO facing the anode. The indicator indicates when the discharge capacity of the battery cell approaches the end of life (EOL) according to the theoretical capacity and discharge efficiency of SVO/CFx active materials.
