<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material having excellent workability by improving a task that a metal-ceramic composite material using a conventional SiC ceramic as a reinforcing material and metal Si as a matrix has low toughness and adverse workability compared to aluminum oxide or aluminum nitride. <P>SOLUTION: In the metal-ceramic composite material using the SiC ceramic as the reinforcing material and a Si alloy as the matrix, the toughness of the metal-ceramic composite material is improved to ≥3.5 MN/m<SP>3/2</SP>by controlling the content of Si to 60-30 mass% and the content of Cu to 40-70 mass% in the Si alloy matrix. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
